 4.  Mechatronics
In order to accurately achieve the pre-set control objectives (such as switch, speed, output force, position, etc.), closed-circuit feedback control should be adopted. The conversion between gas and electric signals becomes the key to realize closed-circuit control, and the proportional control valve can be the interface of this conversion. It is an important subject for the development of pneumatic technology to develop various forms of proportional control valves and electro-pneumatic proportional/servo systems in a long period of time, and to make them have good performance, reliable operation and low price. At present, there are many application examples of proportional/servo system, such as precise positioning of cylinder, suspension system for vehicle to achieve good vibration reduction performance, automatic tilting device for cable car turning, robot serving patients, etc. How to make the above examples more practical and economical still needs to be further improved.

 5.  Standardization
 Implementing standards, especially ISO international standards, is a principle that enterprises must abide by. It has two aspects to do: first, the pneumatic products should implement the current standards related to pneumatics, such as terminology, technical parameters, test methods, installation dimensions and safety indicators. The second is that enterprises should establish the guarantee system stipulated by the standards. There are three existing systems: quality (ISO9000), environmental protection (ISO14000) and safety (ISO18000).
With the increasing and revising of standards, enterprises and their products will continue to develop and update. Only in this way can the steady development of pneumatic technology be promoted.

 6.  Safety
 According to the recently issued ISO international standards on pneumatic, the safety requirements for imported pneumatic tool components and systems are very strict. ISO4414 pneumatic general rules divide dangerous elements into 14 categories, including mechanical strength, electrical appliances, noise, control failure and so on. ISO International organization has promulgated ISO18000 standard, which requires enterprises to establish a safety assurance system and put safety issues on the agenda of special importance. For this reason, it is also the general trend of pneumatic technology development to consider safety indicators in product development and system design. For domestic enterprises, it is necessary to reexamine and revise the products that have been put into the market because the past industry standards neglected the safety issues.

7. Oil-free, odorless and aseptic
 The  requirement of human beings to the environment is getting higher and higher, so the oil-free pneumatic components will be popularized. There are also some special industries, such as food, beverage, pharmaceuticals, electronics and so on, which require more stringent air requirements. Besides oil-free, they also require odorless, sterile and so on. The filters with such special requirements will be continuously developed.

 8.  Application of New Technologies, New Technologies and New Materials Profile extrusion, casting infiltration and modular assembly technology have been widely used in China more than ten years ago. We suggested that scientists and technicians in the hardware and tools industry should pay special attention to the new technologies of die casting (hydraulic core pulling, vacuum die casting, etc.),  deburring (explosion, electrolysis, etc.), piezoelectric technology, bus technology, new soft magnetic materials, application of dialysis filters, seals technology, ultra-precision machining and new trends of nanotechnology.
