​Selection of Hydraulic Oil

 When choosing hydraulic oil, we mainly consider several factors:           
 1.  Proper Viscosity and Good Viscosity-Temperature Characteristics           
 Viscosity is the first factor to consider when choosing hydraulic oil. Under the same working pressure, excessive viscosity increases the resistance of hydraulic components, accelerates the self-priming ability of hydraulic pumps and increases the pressure drop and power loss of pipelines. If the viscosity is too low, the volume loss of hydraulic pumps will be increased, the leakage of components will be increased, and so on. The oil film of sliding parts becomes thinner and the supporting capacity decreases.           
 2.  Good Lubrication (Wear Resistance)           
 The hydraulic system has a large number of moving parts which need lubrication to prevent wear on the relative moving surface, especially in the system with high pressure, which requires much higher wear resistance of hydraulic oil.           
 3.  Good antioxidant activity           
 Hydraulic oil will also be oxidized in the use process. The acidic substances produced by the oxidation of hydraulic oil will increase the corrosiveness to metals. The sludge sediments generated will plug the filters and small crevices, making the hydraulic system work abnormally. Therefore, good oxidation resistance is required.           
 4.  Good Shear Stability           
 When hydraulic oil passes through the throttle port and crevice of pump, valve, it must undergo severe shearing action, which results in the breakage of some macromolecule polymers in oil, such as tackifier molecules, into small molecules, which reduces the viscosity. When the viscosity decreases to a certain extent, the oil can not be used, so good shearing resistance is required.           
 5.  Good rust and corrosion resistance           
 Hydraulic oil inevitably contacts with water and air in the course of use, and acid  substances produced after oxidation will rust and corrode metals, affecting the normal operation of the hydraulic system.             
 6.  Good anti-emulsification and hydrolysis stability           
 Water and condensate mixed with hydraulic oil in different ways are subjected to hydraulic pumps and other components.           
 7.  Good foam resistance and air release.           
 In the hydraulic tank, as the oil bubbles are mixed with the oil circulation, the pressure of the system will be reduced, the lubrication condition will deteriorate, and the abnormal noise and vibration will be produced. In addition, the bubble will also increase the area of oil air contact and  accelerate the oxidation of the oil. Therefore, the hydraulic oil is required to have good foam resistance and air release.  8.  Adaptability to Sealing Materials           
 Hydraulic Jack because of the poor adaptability of hydraulic oil and sealing materials, sealing materials will expand, soften or harden and lose sealing performance, so it requires that hydraulic oil and sealing materials can adapt to each other.
