Safety management of logistics center can not be separated from safe use of manual pallet truck
 Manual pallet truck is the most common material handling equipment in logistics system. Manual pallet truck is a very important factor affecting the safe operation and management of logistics center, because it usually involves the cooperation of personnel, goods and logistics equipment such as shelves and conveyors when operating in warehouses or distribution centers.           
 How to view the importance of safety of pallet trucks? When most companies and enterprises in China are asked this question, they can easily give the corresponding reasons. However, when asked how to promote the achievement of this goal from a management perspective, the company's answers become diverse and lack of accuracy. Some companies believe that this is entirely a "outsourcing responsibility" and should be entrusted to the manually operated pallet  suppliers, or that it is sufficient to comply with the relevant regulations on "health and safety" formulated by the state; others hold a passive position on this issue until serious accidents occur. The issue of health and safety is concerned, but it is too late.           
 Every year, the German Statutory Accident Insurance Association publishes a "statistical summary" of all workplaces where accidents occur. From the latest report in January 2014 (including data since 2012), we can see that in 2012-2013 (about 220 working days), there were 10470 manual pallet accidents in Germany, and there were 14030 small tray accidents. This means that there  will be an average of 120 accidents involving material handling equipment in the warehouse area every day. However, in China, it is difficult to find any official reliable data in this regard. However, it can be believed that material handling equipment such as pallet trucks in China is also the most common cause of serious accidents in the workplace. The overall accident incidence and the severity of accidents are probably much higher than those in Germany.           
 According to our experience, the vast majority of accidents (more than 80% of them) are caused by the operator's lack of training in the operation and use of a particular vehicle type, or failure to comply with recognized operating standards, resulting in operational errors, resulting in accidents; the remaining accidents are caused by technical and other reasons. However, as long as we do more in-depth analysis, we will find that some "human factors", such as inadequate equipment maintenance or even complete lack, have greatly affected the occurrence of accidents. If the equipment can not be maintained in accordance with the original factory maintenance manual, or if the third party without corresponding qualification uses "cheap"  non-original parts which have not been inspected or are not in conformity with the purpose at all to carry out the maintenance of the equipment, the possibility of failure of the equipment will be increased, and consequently the probability of accidents will be increased. Enlarge. However, in our country, there are a large number of fake and inferior parts in the market, which leads to the above situation more serious. As for technical failures, they are often caused by the operator's failure to perform basic pre-operation routine checks on the vehicle used by him before starting work in the warehouse area.           
 Before giving some basic suggestions on how to improve the security of warehouse area operations, we should lay emphasis on two very important points:           
 1.  Any operation on material handling equipment such as pallet trucks should be included in the safety management system of warehouse area or the whole company. There is no shortcut to management.           
 2.  To improve the safety level of warehouse area operation, it should be regarded as an investment, which requires money cost and management time. However, it can be affirmed that compared with the method of simply calculating "total cost of ownership", using comprehensive and long-term business assessment tools to calculate, the investment will certainly bring significant savings and reasonable returns in this area.
