Brief introduction of lever hoist

Lever hoists are a kind of portable devices which were used to manually lift, lower or pull a load. The advantage of them is that being able to lift in most positions, including horizontally, whereas chain blocks and chain hoists can only be used vertically. Two kinds of lever blocks are supplied – fitted with chain for lifting, or wire rope for lashing and pulling a load. Lever hoists are most commonly used across industries such as: power line work, pipe laying, confined space, forestry, automotive garages and heavy machinery work.
 The following is operating principle of lever hoist
 Handle or lever that the lever hoist has is attached to a block which houses an internal gear system and ratchet, accompanied by a length of load chain which travels over the internal gear, or a length of wire rope which runs through a pulley. it works by cranking the lever up and down to power the ratchet and pawl system, moving the load a set distance per crank. It is easily switched for both chain and wire rope types that the direction of the internal gear can be, to move the load up or down if it is needed. In particular, on the end of the load chain/cable for easy attachment to a load, there are two hooks, one is attached to the housing of the lever block, and anther is attached to a secure support.
 The standard lengths of the load chain or cable on a lever hoist is 1.5 or 3 meters. Other lengths are available upon request by customers.
 Below are some uses of lever hoist.

1. Be used for lifting

Every lifting lever hoist which has a guarantee will be made to a specific working load limit (WLL), such as 2 ton. It is forbidden that he total weight of the load to be lifted, including the weight of any rigging equipment attached, exceed this working load limit. The WLL of a lever hoist, along with the manufacturer and serial number, will be clearly displayed on the side of the hoist. The extent of these blocks is from 250kg WLL to 10 ton WLL.

2. Be used for lashing

Cable lever hoists are used for lashing. Instead of lifting, they are commonly used for tensioning or pulling a heavy load in the transport industry. There will be a Lashing Capacity (L.C.)  displaying clearly on the housing e.g. 3800kg. The extent of these lever hoists in lashing capacities are from 2000kg to 9000kg.
What should we pay attention to in the process of using？
 For security’s sake, it is necessary for them to be periodically inspected and load tested by a competent Inspection Officer. Every 12 months, all lever hoists for lifting should be inspected. Arranging inspection, loading testing, and provide certificates and registers for the item are the ability of all lifting.
 All in all, when we will use or are using lever hoists, we should have a general idea of them. As such, it will be easier for us to use them.
