Risk of personal injury or property damage always exist when using any lever hoist. However, if proper instructions and warnings are not followed, the risk is greatly increased. Therefore, each operator should become thoroughly familiar with all warnings, instructions, and recommendations before using ratchet lever hoist.
The following is some extra notice of ratchet lever hoists.
First, with regard to hoisting(pulling) and lowering(releasing)

  1. Hoisting (Pulling) Set the selector lever to the “UP” position. Turning the guide handle clockwise to take up the slacked load chain, and then manipulate the operating handle clockwise.

     2. Lowering (Releasing) Set the selector lever to the “DOWN” position. Manipulate the operating handle counterclockwise. The load chain is capable of being slacked by turning the guide handle counterclockwise when there is no load on the ratchet lever hoist. This operation is used to quick large adjustments of the load chain length, set the selector lever to the “N” position and pull the load chain out in the desired  direction.
It is important to note that during the following conditions, free-chaining will be impossible, which are listed below.

  1. When the ratchet lever hoist will automatically change from the free-chaining condition to the brake locked condition when a load is applied.

  2. When the brake has locked from a large or abrupt load: Turn the guide handle 45° counterclockwise to unlock the brake.

  3. When the guide handle is in contact with something and not rotating freely.

     4. When the brake is locked: The brake can be unlocked by setting the selector lever to the “DOWN” position and manipulating the operating handle counterclockwise.

5.When the ratchet lever hoist is under a load.

Two methods are following, and you can apply the load with one: One is turn the guide handle clockwise till the brake locks from the force of the load, another is pull firmly on the stop grip until the  brake locks from the force of the load. Next, you can turn the selector lever to the “UP” position on the ratchet lever hoist or pull by manipulating the operating handle.
 Then, with regard to maintenance
The ratchet lever hoist is designed and made to withstand heavy-duty materials handling operations, but it is unavoidable that they will be worn and damaged after a long period of use and depending on the place and method of use, so maintenance is necessary. Notes are as follows:

  1. Proper lubrication will be beneficial to lengthen the life of the ratchet lever hoist. Before storing please check to see if the lever hoist is well lubricated. Be especially sure that the moving parts such as gears and bearings are well lubricated.

  2. Never leave the ratchet lever hoist in a damp environment or damp weather such as rain. Always store the ratchet lever hoist in a dry airy area.

     3. Load chain: Load chains worn-out or elongated beyond the permissible dimensions must be replaced at once. If even one link of the load chain is extensively worn-out, elongated or damaged, you should replace the entire load chain immediately

    4. Hooks: The hook is dangerously deformed and must be replaced at once if the hook opening is elongated beyond the permissible dimension, No deformation of the hook will arise when the ratchet lever hoist is used and maintained properly.
When you use the ratchet lever hoist, you should notice the points above.
